Job Description:

We are seeking a CDAE specializing in HV Primary Substation Design to support our customer on a 12-month contract basis (outside IR35).

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Manage and lead all primary engineering activities from project initiation to As-Built stage, ensuring compliance with Project Specifications.
• Supervise and coordinate with internal and external engineering teams, partners, sub-suppliers, secondary engineers, and civil engineers.
• Review HV plant design packages according to NG/ET/SR188 standards.
• Complete relevant sections of the DID and submit design packages for compliance audits.
• Manage design changes following the established change management process.
• Participate in Design Review Meetings and Hazard Review Meetings as required.
• Review and certify design packages and issue DCAAR documentation.
• Coordinate civil design inputs and interface with construction planning, steel structures, protection and control systems, and other equipment suppliers.
• Engage in technical discussions with clients and suppliers, handle site queries, and prepare as-built documentation.
• Oversee primary engineering budget, schedule, risk, and change management activities.
• Lead engineering for large, complex EHV/HV Air & Gas Insulated Substation projects in the UK.
• Provide technical solutions including single line diagrams, layouts, and detailed drawings per standards and customer specifications.
• Prepare Design Intent Documents and Functional Design Specifications based on supplier inputs.
• Manage RFQs for HV plant equipment and prepare bills of quantities, deviations, and clarifications.
• Review supplier designs and factory acceptance test plans.
