The Healthcare Assistant role sits within the multidisciplinary primary care team in Sheffield, supporting patients across practice sites. Tasks include clinical observations, phlebotomy, vaccinations, health promotion and infection control, under supervision of registered clinicians. Home visits may be required.

Applicants should have NVQ Level 3 or equivalent and phlebotomy training, with experience in nursing observations and working with diverse patient groups.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in healthcare assistant practice.
• Phlebotomy training.

Responsabilités

• Carry out clinical observations and measurements (BP, pulse, SpO2, weight, BMI).
• Undertake phlebotomy and safe handling of blood samples.
• Support monitoring of long-term conditions and diabetes (blood glucose, HbA1c, foot assessments).
• Assist vaccination programmes including flu vaccines and B12 injections where trained.
• Provide health promotion advice and encourage uptake of prevention/screening/vaccination.
• Carry out basic wound care, dressings, ear irrigation and microsuction within competence.
• Follow infection prevention and control policies (hand hygiene, equipment cleaning, sharps disposal).
• Prepare clinical rooms/equipment, monitor stock and report needs.
• Recognise safeguarding concerns and changes in patient condition; escalate as needed.
• Maintain accurate patient records and confidentiality (GDPR).
• Undertake home visits and chaperoning where appropriate and with competence.
• Participate in wider primary care team and complete mandatory training/competency assessments.
