Job summary

Axcis Education Recruitment is seeking a dedicated Primary Behaviour Support Assistant for a full-time role in NW5, London, starting in September. You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to support pupils with behavioural and emotional needs and contribute to a positive, inclusive learning environment.

The role involves 1:1 support, promoting calm, consistent boundaries, and helping pupils develop emotional regulation and social skills throughout lessons and breaks.

Primary Behaviour Support Assistant | NW5 | Full-Time | September Start

Are you passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning? Axcis Education is working with a friendly and inclusive primary school in the NW5 area that is looking to appoint a dedicated Behaviour Support Assistant for a full-time role starting in September. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting pupils who require additional behavioural and emotional support throughout the school day. Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO, you'll help create a positive learning environment where every child feels safe, supported, and able to succeed.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Providing targeted 1:1 support for pupils with behavioural and emotional needs
  • Encouraging positive behaviour through consistency, encouragement, and clear boundaries
  • Supporting children to develop emotional regulation and social skills
  • Assisting pupils during lessons, transitions, and break times
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, the SEND team, and parents where appropriate
  • Recording progress and contributing to behaviour support plans
We're looking for someone who:
  • Has previous experience supporting children with challenging behaviour, SEMH, or SEND
  • Can remain calm and confident in challenging situations
  • Builds positive relationships with children through patience and empathy
  • Has experience in education, youth work, care, or a similar support role
  • Is committed to making a lasting difference to children's wellbeing and development
