Job summary

West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service is seeking a Prevention Trainer to design, deliver and evaluate high-quality blended learning solutions that support community risk reduction across West Yorkshire.

You will work with colleagues and external partners to identify learning needs, create engaging learning resources, and promote behaviour change across diverse audiences. A strong background in learning and development and experience with both face-to-face and digital delivery are essential.

Prevention Trainer.

Permanent.

Peripatetic covering WestYorkshire/ Hybrid Working.

Grade 5:£32,597to£33,699per annum(Pay Award pending from 1 April 2026).

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join one of the country’s leading fire and rescue services as a Prevention Trainer.

As Prevention Trainer, you will join an established team, working flexibly to design, deliver and evaluate high-quality blended learning solutions that support organisational improvement, behaviour change and community risk reduction across West Yorkshire.

We are looking for someone with strong learning and development experience, excellent communication and presentation skills, and the ability to design accessible,inclusiveand engaging learning for a wide range of audiences. You will be highly organised,proactiveand able to manage competing priorities whilemaintaininghigh standards.

You will work closely with colleagues, subject-matter experts, external partners, communitygroupsand educational settings toidentifylearning needs and develop training that supports prevention, safeguarding, communitysafetyand risk reduction.

You will create accessible and engaging learning resources across a range of formats, including face-to-face sessions, virtual delivery, e-learning, presentations, videos, infographics,toolkitsand bite-size digital content.

You will need todemonstratean excellent understanding of the issues affecting the communities of West Yorkshire and be able to encourage and inspire behaviour change. You will have highly developed training skills and experience of both face-to-face and digital delivery.

You will:

Knowledge of the full training cycle and experience in training isrequiredfor this role; relevant training qualifications are essential for the post holder.

Whilst you willbe requiredto work from our offices for parts of yourinitialtraining, after thisyou’llwork both in the office and from home as part of our ‘hybrid’ working model. Therefore,applicants must have a reliable home internet connection.
