Job summary

Hartest Pre-school is seeking a passionate, experienced Pre-school Manager to lead our team, support children and families, and shape the future of our setting near Bury St Edmunds. This role blends hands-on early years practice with leadership, administration and management to provide high-quality care in line with EYFS and Ofsted expectations.

You will oversee learning, safeguarding, budgeting and staff development, and build strong relationships with parents and local partners.

Qualifications

• A full and relevant Early Years qualification at Level 3 or above, with the qualifications and experience required to undertake a manager role as stated in the EYFS.
• At least 2 years’ experience working in early years, ideally with leadership or management experience.
• A strong understanding of the EYFS statutory framework, safeguarding and Ofsted requirements.
• Confidence to manage a staffing team and liaise with the Committee.

Responsibilities

• Leadership and Management: Oversee day-to-day running, lead and support staff, manage rotas and promote a positive team environment.
• Safeguarding and Compliance: Ensure children’s safety, maintain safeguarding procedures and meet EYFS/Ofsted requirements.
• Children’s learning and development: Oversee curriculum planning, observations and assessments for high-quality education.
• Staff Management: Lead recruitment, induction, supervisions and staff development with the Committee.
• Administration and Organisation: Maintain records, manage admissions and communications, oversee resources and policies.
• Partnership with Parents and Professionals: Build relationships with families, local schools and external agencies.
• Financial and Operational Management: Monitor budgets, manage resources and support sustainability.
• Continuous Improvement: Evaluate quality and prepare for inspections.
