Job summary

Johnson Controls in the United Kingdom seeks a Presales Engineer / Application Engineer to support design, estimation and quotation of retail security solutions, including CCTV, EAS and RFID. You will collaborate with sales and project teams, review drawings, prepare accurate estimates, and ensure timely, high-quality proposals.

You will develop Excel-based estimation worksheets, validate quantities, and ensure alignment with customer specs and internal standards.

Qualifications

• 3 to 8 years' experience in estimation, engineering support, presales engineering or a similar technical role.
• Familiarity with CCTV system design and estimation.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills with detailed costing spreadsheets.
• Ability to read, interpret and analyse PDF drawings, layouts and project documentation.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate project estimates using the Sales & Install (SAI) platform.
• Review PDF drawings, project documentation and store layouts to determine system requirements and scope.
• Develop and maintain detailed Excel-based estimation worksheets.
• Validate quantities, material requirements, labour assumptions and pricing accuracy.
• Support the preparation of technical proposals, quotations and customer submissions.
• Liaise with sales, engineering and project teams to clarify technical and commercial requirements.

• Support continuous improvement of estimation processes and tools.

What You Will Do

As a Presales Engineer / Application Engineer (Sensormatic Solutions), you will play a key role in supporting the design, estimation and quotation of retail security solutions across CCTV, Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) and RFID projects. Working closely with sales and project delivery teams, you will review customer requirements, interpret drawings and layouts, prepare accurate estimates, and ensure proposals are delivered to a high standard within agreed timescales. This role offers the opportunity to combine technical expertise with commercial awareness in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.

What We Are Looking For

Required
