Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a Presales Engineer / Application Engineer (Sensormatic Solutions) in the UK to design, estimate and quote CCTV, EAS and RFID solutions. You will review customer requirements, interpret drawings, prepare accurate estimates and deliver high-quality proposals on time.

Role requires 3–8 years in estimation or presales engineering, strong Excel skills, and the ability to read PDFs and layouts.

Qualifications

• 3 to 8 years' experience in estimation, engineering support, presales engineering or a similar technical role.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to create and manage detailed costing spreadsheets.
• Ability to read, interpret and analyse PDF drawings, layouts and project documentation.
• Strong analytical skills and excellent attention to detail.
• Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Well-organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Proactive, customer-focused approach and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate project estimates using the Sales & Install (SAI) platform.
• Review PDF drawings, project documentation and store layouts to determine system requirements and scope.
• Develop and maintain detailed Excel-based estimation worksheets.
• Validate quantities, material requirements, labour assumptions and pricing accuracy.
• Support the preparation of technical proposals, quotations and customer submissions.
• Liaise with sales, engineering and project teams to clarify technical and commercial requirements.
• Ensure estimates align with customer specifications, internal standards and project objectives.
• Maintain organised project documentation and estimation records.
• Support continuous improvement of estimation processes and tools.
• Deliver high-quality estimates and presales support within agreed deadlines.
