Job summary

First Base Employment Ltd is seeking a skilled Prepper/Polisher for our client in Nuneaton. The role is permanent, 37 hours per week on double day shifts, with a salary of £29,250 to £31,500 per annum.

You will work in a busy paint shop, preparing substrates, masking and mounting components for painting. Experience in aerospace, automotive or manufacturing environments is preferred, especially with carbon fibre parts.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a preparation, polishing or paint shop environment.
• Experience preparing carbon fibre parts is advantageous.
• Reliable, punctual and able to work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare substrates for primer and topcoat.
• Mask components and prepare for painting.
• Prepare and mount parts for painting.
• Use filler for pinholes and voids.
• Polish gloss finish components to a high standard.
• Produce high-quality parts per customer requirements.
• Follow work instructions and quality standards.
• Dispose of waste correctly and keep area tidy.
• Wear PPE and follow health and safety procedures.

Purpose

We are looking for an experienced Prepper / Polisher to join a busy Paint Shop environment. The successful candidate will ideally have experience within an aerospace, automotive or manufacturing environment, with experience working with carbon fibre parts being advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Prepare various substrates ready for primer.
• Prepare primer ready for topcoat.
• Carry out masking and component preparation prior to painting.
• Prepare and mount components prior to painting.
• Use filler to address pinholes, voids and shapes.
• Polish gloss finish components to a high standard.
• Produce high-quality parts in line with customer requirements.
• Follow work instructions and quality standards.
• Ensure hazardous and non-hazardous waste is disposed of correctly.
• Keep the work area clean and tidy.
• Wear the required PPE and follow all company health and safety procedures.

Skills and Experience

• Previous experience in a preparation, polishing, paint shop, body shop or similar manufacturing environment.
• Experience preparing components for painting.
• Experience preparing carbon fibre parts would be advantageous.
• Good hand skills and a strong eye for detail.
• Automotive model development or body shop / paint shop experience would be desirable.
• Takes pride in producing high-quality work.
• Reliable and punctual with a positive approach to teamwork.
• Good communication skills and a professional attitude.
