Job summary

First Base in Nuneaton is seeking an experienced Prepper / Polisher to join a busy Paint Shop. The role focuses on preparing substrates for primer, priming for topcoat, masking and mounting components for painting, and delivering high-quality finish.

Ideal candidates have background in aerospace, automotive or manufacturing environments, with good hand skills and attention to detail. Carbon fibre experience would be advantageous; permanent role with 37 hours per week and double day shifts.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a preparation, polishing, paint shop, body shop or similar manufacturing environment.
• Experience preparing components for painting.
• Experience preparing carbon fibre parts would be advantageous.
• Good hand skills and a strong eye for detail.
• Automotive model development or body shop / paint shop experience would be desirable.
• Takes pride in producing high-quality work.
• Reliable and punctual with a positive approach to teamwork.
• Good communication skills and a professional attitude

Responsibilities

• Prepare various substrates ready for primer.
• Prepare primer ready for topcoat.
• Carry out masking and component preparation prior to painting.
• Prepare and mount components prior to painting.
• Use filler to address pinholes, voids and shapes.
• Polish gloss finish components to a high standard.
• Produce high-quality parts in line with customer requirements.
• Follow work instructions and quality standards.
• Ensure hazardous and non-hazardous waste is disposed of correctly.
• Keep the work area clean and tidy.
• Wear the required PPE and follow all company health and safety procedures.
