Job summary

COOK in Sittingbourne is seeking a Kitchen Prep Assistant to support the busy kitchen with prep, washing and basic cooking tasks. You’ll follow instructions to prepare ingredients, maintain clean work areas and assist the team in a fast-paced environment.

The role suits reliable, detail-oriented individuals who are comfortable standing for long periods and lifting. NVQ level 1/2 (or catering equivalent) is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• NVQ level 1/2 (or catering equivalent) preferred but not required.
• Comfortable standing for long periods and with regular lifting, carrying, bending and reaching.
• Attention to safety, hygiene and kitchen cleanliness.

Responsibilities

• Carefully cutting, weighing and measuring ingredients according to instructions.
• Preparing meat, seafood and poultry by cutting or grinding for cooking.
• Chopping and prepping vegetables with sharp knives in a busy kitchen.
• Keeping surfaces, utensils, equipment and dishes clean and tidy.
• Following food safety and hygiene regulations to maintain a safe kitchen.
• Supporting the team with other kitchen tasks in a fast-paced environment.

• Preparing meat, seafood, and poultry by cutting or grinding, ready for cooking.
• Chopping and prepping vegetables - you'll need to be confident using sharp knives.
• Keeping the kitchen clean and tidy, including surfaces, utensils, equipment, and dishes.
• Following all food safety and hygiene regulations to maintain a safe work environment.
• Supporting the team with other kitchen tasks as needed - no two days are the same! Are you passionate about food and enjoy working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment? We're looking for reliable, detail-oriented individuals to join our team as a Kitchen Prep Assistant., Experience working in busy Kitchen
• NVQ level 1 and 2. (Or equivalent in catering) preferred but not required This is a hands-on, active role, so you'll need to be comfortable being on your feet for much of the day and with regular lifting, carrying, bending and reaching. We'll always consider reasonable adjustments where these are needed.
