Job summary

Abbey Hill Academy & College in Stoke-on-Trent is seeking a part-time Premises Assistant to support the upkeep, security and daily running of the school site. The role focuses on security checks, locking and unlocking buildings, and keeping records of maintenance.

You will operate heating, cooling, lighting, CCTV and alarm systems, carry out minor repairs, act as a designated key holder for emergency access and support contractors on site.

Qualifications

• Enhanced DBS check required.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Responsibilities

• Carry out daily security checks and lock and unlock buildings at set times.
• Keep records of maintenance and security.
• Follow health and safety rules including COSHH and report hazards.
• Carry out minor repairs and maintenance of buildings and site.
• Operate heating, cooling, lighting, CCTV and alarm systems.
• Carry out minor plant maintenance such as lubricating heating pumps.
• Act as designated key holder providing emergency access.
• Act as school contact for premises contractors.
• Organise asbestos testing and other health and safety procedures.
• Move furniture and equipment, receive deliveries, collect waste, restock consumables and carry out periodic cleaning.
