Job summary

St Philip's Catholic Primary School in Arundel, West Sussex, is seeking a proactive Premises Manager to oversee the management, maintenance, security and presentation of the school site. The role carries responsibility for keeping buildings and grounds safe, clean and welcoming for pupils, staff and visitors.

The post is permanent, part-time (17–20 hours per week, Mon–Fri) with a close partnership with the Headteacher and Office Manager.

Qualifications

• Has practical maintenance, trade or premises management experience.
• Has a good understanding of health and safety requirements.
• Is organised, self-motivated and able to prioritise workloads effectively.
• Has good IT, communication and record-keeping skills.
• Can work independently and as part of a team.
• Takes pride in maintaining a safe, attractive and welcoming environment.
• Has the physical capability to undertake premises duties.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining the school buildings and grounds to a high standard.
• Managing site security, including acting as a keyholder and overseeing opening and closing procedures.
• Undertaking repairs, maintenance and refurbishment work.
• Carrying out regular health and safety checks, inspections and record keeping, including fire safety and Legionella monitoring.
• Liaising with contractors and overseeing maintenance projects.
• Ensuring the school environment is safe, clean, tidy and conducive to learning.
• Supporting school events, lettings and day-to-day operational needs.
