Job summary

Essex County Council is recruiting a Part-Time Premises Assistant for ACL Colchester. The role covers caretaking, cleaning, site access control, health and safety duties, and occasional travel to ACL Clacton to meet business needs.

Working 30 hours per week with Saturday once a month, shifts include early, afternoon, and day times. The post requires GCSEs or equivalent, a hands-on approach, and the ability to use basic IT tools.

Qualifications

• Educated to RQF level 2 (GCSE) or equivalent through relevant work experience.
• Familiar with health & safety regulations and manual handling.
• Able to use basic IT tools for email, Teams and admin tasks.

Responsibilities

• Oversee security and access to the site, lock/unlock, respond to alarms, and monitor safety systems.
• Carry out caretaking and cleaning to meet service standards for staff and customers.
• Set up rooms and teaching aids according to bookings; assist with occasional evacuations.
• Maintain grounds and ensure paths are clear; monitor health & safety compliance.
• Welcome visitors and contractors; manage equipment inventory and basic reporting.
