Job summary

Stanway Fiveways Primary School in Colchester is seeking a proactive Caretaker/Site Manager to maintain the school premises and ensure a safe, welcoming environment for learning.

The role is part-time, 25 hours per week, with duties including building and grounds upkeep, and supervision of cleanliness. You will work under the Site Manager and School Business Manager and may require occasional overtime.

Required to start 3rd November 2026, 25 hours per week, 52 weeks a year, 25 days paid holiday plus bank holidays.

Hours of work - Monday to Friday 12.30pm - 5.30pm. Holidays to be taken outside of term time.

The successful applicant must be capable of ensuring that our children have a safe supportive environment to enable them to maximise their learning.

We are looking to appoint an energetic, hardworking, reliable and pro-active person who will take pride in the appearance and maintenance of our school buildings and grounds. They must be able to work independently and under the direction of the Site Manager and School Business Manager.

We are looking for someone who:

• Possesses building maintenance, cleaning and general caretaking skills.
• Has a flexible, organised and positive approach maintaining high standards within their work.
• Is reliable and conscientious and has excellent time management skills.
• Will be willing to attend training relevant to the post.

The post holder must be willing to work overtime on occasional evenings.
