Job summary

East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a full-time Smoke Free Pregnancy Advisor for the Maternity department in the Thanet area. You will support pregnant smokers and families to quit through weekly appointments, providing behavioural support and Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) to aid quit journeys.

Training to a level 2 Smokefree Advisor will be provided, and experience in Maternity Services or Public Health is desirable to signpost to additional support.

Qualifications

• Pro-active, enthusiastic individual with excellent communication skills.
• Experience in Maternity Services and/or Public Health desirable.
• Willing to undergo training to become a level 2 Smokefree Advisor.
• Able to travel between hospital sites and community hubs.

Responsibilities

• Provide stop smoking support throughout pregnancy and the post-natal period.
• Work with the Smoking in Pregnancy Specialist Leads.
• Administer smokefree pregnancy data collection and collation.
• Order and maintain stocks of nicotine replacement therapy.
• Promote the general health and wellbeing of pregnant people and families.
• Develop and implement stop smoking services in health and community settings.
• Work with minimal indirect supervision.
• Escalate and record any safeguarding issues.
