Job summary

East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a full-time Smoke Free Pregnancy Advisor for the Thanet area. The role provides cessation support to pregnant smokers and their families, with weekly appointments and NRT guidance.

Training to level 2 Smokefree Advisor will be given, and experience in maternity or public health is desirable. The post requires proactive communication, travel between hospital sites and community hubs, and the ability to manage a caseload with limited

Qualifications

• GCSE level English and Mathematics or equivalent
• NVQ level 3/4 or equivalent health related studies OR substantial successful experience delivering stop smoking interventions/support
• Experience of providing healthcare advice or promoting healthy lifestyle advice to patients or members of the public
• Experience of providing help, support and/or counselling on either a one-to-one basis or as part of a group setting
• Experience of providing smoking cessation support
• A record of working with pregnant women
• Experience of developing and delivering successful health promotion interventions
• Experience of using Quit Manager or another database/electronic clinical record system.

Responsibilities

• Provide stop smoking support throughout pregnancy and the post-natal period
• Work with the Smoking in Pregnancy Specialist Leads.
• Assist with administration of the smokefree pregnancy data collection and collation
• Order and maintain stocks of nicotine replacement therapy
• Promote the general health and wellbeing
• Develop and implement stop smoking services in a range of health and community settings.
• Work with minimal indirect supervision
• Escalate and record any possible safeguarding issues
