Job summary

Cadillac Formula 1 Team in Silverstone seeks a Model Design Engineer to own end-to-end design projects for wind tunnel parts, from CAD creation to validation and documentation.

You will collaborate with aerodynamicists and surface engineers, push design workflows, and travel during race season. A degree in engineering and strong CAD/FEA skills are essential for delivering high-quality parts that meet aerodynamic targets.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering, Design, Motorsport, or a related discipline or equivalent
• Strong proficiency in 3D CAD software (preferably 3DExperience/CATIA) and experience in using FEA for structural validation of parts
• Strong understanding of parametric modeling, part robustness, and model layout principles
• Strong knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes, including composites and advanced digital manufacturing techniques
• Strong understanding of GD&T and its application and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
• Enthusiastic contributor to a collaborative, inclusive, and open culture and highly detail-oriented with a commitment to delivering work right the first time
• Willing to travel and work flexible hours during race season

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, well-validated parts for wind tunnel testing in line with aerodynamic targets
• Support on complete design projects, including CAD creation, project management, quality-checking, and documentation
• Continuously improve the functionality, quality, and robustness of model parts to optimize wind tunnel test efficiency
• Drive the development and implementation of improved design workflows and standards
• Collaborate closely with Aerodynamicists and Surface Design Engineers to ensure alignment with technical specifications
• Ensure adherence to standard design practices and help refine them as needed
