Job summary

New Resource Group is seeking a Toolmaker / Engineering Technician for a Bridgwater-based on-site role in a precision engineering and manufacturing environment. You will produce, refurbish, and maintain high-precision tooling to tight tolerances, working with engineering, production, and maintenance teams to ensure tooling availability and performance.

The role is fully on-site with two shift options: day shift 08:30 start or rotating 06:00 and 14:00.

Qualifications

• Apprenticeship-trained or equivalent qualification in engineering or toolmaking.
• Proven experience in precision machining or toolmaking.
• Ability to read complex engineering drawings.
• Experience with CNC and manual machining.
• Familiarity with ProTrak-type CNC milling systems is desirable.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Manufacture, repair, and refurbish precision tooling to tight tolerances using engineering drawings.
• Operate manual and CNC machining equipment, including ProTrak-style CNC milling machines.
• Interpret technical drawings and collaborate with design/engineering teams to develop tooling solutions.
• Support the introduction of new tooling and modifications for evolving production requirements.
• Troubleshoot tooling and manufacturing issues, providing practical engineering solutions.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and process optimisation activities.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop environment in line with safety procedures.
• Support maintenance activities when required.
• Mentor and support junior team members and apprentices where appropriate.
