Job summary

Yolk Recruitment is supporting an established manufacturer in Bridgwater with a Toolmaker role, working in a busy toolroom to manufacture, refurbish and improve precision tooling used across production.

You will operate conventional and semi-CNC milling and turning machines, interpret engineering drawings, and contribute to resolving production challenges through tooling improvements and process enhancements with a focus on tight tolerances.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as Toolmaker, Toolroom Engineer or Precision Machinist.
• Ability to work from engineering drawings and produce tooling to tight tolerances.
• Experience in tool manufacture, modification and repair.

Responsibilities

• Manufacture and refurbish high-precision tooling from engineering drawings.
• Modify and improve existing tooling to support production and new product requirements.
• Operate conventional and semi-CNC milling and turning equipment.
• Work closely with Production and Engineering teams to solve manufacturing challenges.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and tooling developments across the site.

Job description

Toolmaker - Bridgwater - £37,000 - £40,000

Yolk Recruitment is supporting an established manufacturer with the recruitment of a Toolmaker to join their engineering team in Bridgwater.

This is a days-based role within a busy manufacturing environment where you'll be responsible for manufacturing, refurbishing and improving precision tooling that supports production across the site.
Rather than purely producing components, you'll play a key part in helping the business respond to new products, production challenges and process improvements by delivering high-quality tooling to demanding tolerances.

This is what you'll be doing

Working within a well-equipped toolroom, you'll be involved in the manufacture, repair and modification of precision tooling using conventional and semi-CNC machine tools.

• Manufacture and refurbish high-precision tooling from engineering drawings


• Modify and improve existing tooling to support production and new product requirements


• Operate conventional and semi-CNC milling and turning equipment


• Work closely with Production and Engineering teams to solve manufacturing challenges


• Support continuous improvement initiatives and tooling developments across the site

The experience you'll bring to the team

• Previous experience working as a Toolmaker, Toolroom Engineer or Precision Machinist


• Strong milling and turning experience across conventional and CNC machinery


• Ability to work from engineering drawings and produce tooling to tight tolerances


• Experience in tool manufacture, modification and repair


• A proactive approach to problem solving and process improvement

• Apprentice-trained Engineer or equivalent time-served background


• Experience working to tight tolerances


• Full right to work in the UK
