Job summary

Mansell Recruitment Group is seeking an experienced Design Engineer for a precision engineering and manufacturing environment. The role focuses on designing tools, dies, jigs and fixtures to meet customer requirements and high-quality standards.

You will collaborate with engineering and production teams to develop practical, accurate designs, test prototypes, and identify improvements to boost manufacturing efficiency and product quality.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in tool design or a similar engineering design role.
• Proficiency using CAD software.
• Tooling design experience would be highly beneficial.
• Strong understanding of machining processes and engineering materials.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and engineering specifications.
• Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication skills with engineering and production teams.
• Ability to work independently while contributing as part of a wider team.

Responsibilities

• Design tools, dies, jigs and fixtures using CAD software.
• Produce detailed and accurate design drawings and documentation.
• Interpret technical drawings, specifications and customer requirements.
• Work with engineers and machinists to ensure designs are practical and suitable for manufacture.
• Develop and test prototypes to validate design concepts.
• Identify and implement design improvements to enhance manufacturing efficiency and product quality.
• Troubleshoot design issues and provide effective solutions.
• Consider machining processes, materials and manufacturing requirements when developing designs.
• Liaise with production and engineering teams throughout the design and manufacturing process.
• Maintain high standards of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives across design and manufacturing processes.
