Job summary

Baltic Recruitment Services Ltd in Stevenage is seeking an experienced Tool Maker to join an established manufacturing team in a specialist engineering environment. You will design, manufacture, maintain and repair precision tooling, moulds, jigs and fixtures, working from engineering drawings and CAD models to meet tight tolerances.

This hands-on role requires strong machining, welding, fabrication and inspection skills; you will collaborate with production to resolve tooling issues.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Tool Maker in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong practical machining experience, including milling and grinding.
• Experience with welding, fabrication and mechanical assembly.
• Good working knowledge of CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks or equivalent.
• Mechanical knowledge relating to plastics injection moulding and tooling.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop tooling, jigs and fixtures using CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
• Manufacture and modify precision tooling using milling, grinding, welding and fabrication techniques.
• Maintain, repair and modify existing tools and moulds to maximise performance and service life.
• Operate a range of hand tools, workshop machinery and fabrication equipment.
• Interpret engineering drawings and dimensional requirements.
• Collaborate with production teams to resolve tooling issues.
• Carry out quality checks and dimensional inspections to meet tolerances and standards.
• Record tooling modifications, repairs and manufacturing procedures accurately.
