Job summary

Oxford Instruments is seeking a Technician in High Wycombe to join a precision manufacturing team. You will build complex scientific instruments to exact specifications, ensuring quality, delivery and performance standards are met.

Collaboration with production and engineering is key as part of continuous improvement initiatives. The role suits someone with hands-on experience in manufacturing or engineering, capable of interpreting drawings and maintaining high safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in a manufacturing, assembly, engineering or technician role.
• Ability to interpret mechanical drawings.
• Strong attention to detail and a quality-focused mindset.
• Experience working within health and safety guidelines.
• Understanding of Lean manufacturing principles and 5S practices is advantageous.
• A recognised engineering qualification, apprenticeship or NVQ is beneficial.
• Positive, proactive attitude with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Build and assemble products in line with quality standards and manufacturing procedures.
• Manage workload against production plans and delivery schedules.
• Follow standard operating procedures and quality processes.
• Interpret and work from mechanical drawings and technical documentation.
• Support continuous improvement activities, including 5S and Lean manufacturing initiatives.
• Maintain accurate inventory and work-in-progress records.
• Monitor build quality and resolve issues where appropriate.
• Work safely and ensure compliance with Health & Safety requirements.
• Collaborate effectively with colleagues across the manufacturing team.
• Support and mentor junior technicians where required.
