Job summary

Oxford Instruments plc in High Wycombe is seeking a Technician to join a precision manufacturing team focused on hands-on build work and strict quality standards. The role supports production plans, interprets drawings, and collaborates across the manufacturing floor.

You will follow SOPs, participate in Lean/5S initiatives, and maintain accurate inventory and WIP records while contributing to a world-class environment that manufactures advanced scientific instruments.

Qualifications

• Experience in manufacturing, assembly or technician roles.
• Ability to interpret mechanical drawings.
• Strong attention to detail and a quality mindset.
• Experience working within health and safety guidelines.
• Understanding of Lean manufacturing principles and 5S practices is advantageous.
• A recognised engineering qualification, apprenticeship or NVQ is beneficial.
• Positive, proactive attitude with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Build and assemble products per quality standards.
• Manage workload against production plans.
• Follow standard operating procedures and quality processes.
• Interpret mechanical drawings and technical documentation.
• Support Lean and 5S initiatives.
• Maintain inventory and WIP records.
• Monitor build quality and resolve issues.
• Work safely and comply with Health & Safety requirements.
• Collaborate with the manufacturing team.
• Mentor junior technicians when required.
