Job summary

Latitude Recruitment is seeking a Mechanical Assembly Technician in the United Kingdom to assemble, test and inspect mechanical and electro-mechanical products from drawings and specifications. You will join a skilled production team and contribute to quality, delivery, and traceability.

The role requires hands-on experience with assemblies, reading engineering drawings, and using hand/power tools, with a strong commitment to right-first-time quality and teamwork in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Previous mechanical assembly or mechanical fitting experience in an engineering/manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Confident using hand tools, power tools and measuring equipment.
• Strong practical engineering skills and attention to detail.
• Commitment to quality and a right-first-time approach.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good understanding of workshop health & safety.

Responsibilities

• Assemble mechanical and electro-mechanical equipment to engineering drawings and specifications.
• Read and interpret drawings, assembly instructions and BOMs.
• Fit components including frames, pipework, pumps, valves and fabricated assemblies.
• Carry out drilling, tapping, cutting, fitting and bench assembly.
• Install, align and test mechanical components.
• Identify and report build issues, missing parts and quality concerns.
• Complete quality and traceability records accurately.
• Work to production schedules while maintaining high standards of quality.
• Support continuous improvement, 5S and waste reduction activities.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment.
