Job summary

Bowmay Consulting Ltd is seeking an experienced Manual Vertical Borer for a day shift, with duties focused on setting and operating manual vertical boring machines to produce components from customer drawings. The role requires attention to detail, precision, and the ability to work from specifications to meet tight tolerances.

The position offers a day shift within an established engineering group, with overtime opportunities and potential bonuses.

Qualifications

• Experienced setting and operating manual vertical boring machines, or with a strong background in turning.
• Able to work from customer-issued engineering drawings and specifications.
• Confident setting up machines and selecting appropriate tooling for machining.
• Able to inspect your own work and ensure components meet the required specifications.
• Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality and accuracy.
• Willing to work overtime when required.

Responsibilities

• Setting and operating manual vertical boring machines.
• Working from customer-issued drawings and specifications to produce components to required dimensions and tolerances.
• Setting up machines, selecting suitable tooling and preparing workpieces for machining.
• Carrying out vertical boring and associated machining operations as needed.
• Using measuring equipment to check dimensions and ensure compliance with specifications.
• Self-inspecting during the machining process to maintain quality standards.
• Monitoring machining operations and adjusting to achieve required accuracy and finish.
• Ensuring components are machined efficiently in line with production requirements.
