Job summary

Recra Consulting has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Manual Horizontal Borer to join a precision engineering business in Leicester. Set and operate manual horizontal boring machines to produce components to tight tolerances.

You will read engineering drawings, select tooling, set speeds and feeds, and perform in-process inspections with micrometers and gauges. You'll work with the production and quality teams to ensure top quality and a clean, safe workspace.

Qualifications

• Experience operating manual horizontal boring machines.
• Strong background in precision engineering or machining.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Experience working to tight tolerances.
• Knowledge of machining techniques, tooling, speeds and feeds.
• Confidence using measuring equipment such as micrometers, verniers and gauges.
• Hands-on problem solving and quality focus.
• Experience machining larger or complex components is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Set and operate manual horizontal boring machines.
• Machining precision components to engineering drawings.
• Work to tight tolerances and high-quality standards.
• Carry out one-off and small batch machining.
• Select tooling, speeds and feeds.
• Use precision measuring equipment to check completed work.
• Perform in-process inspection to ensure specifications.
• Identify and resolve machining issues.
• Collaborate with other machinists, production and quality teams.
• Maintain housekeeping and health & safety standards.
