HR GO Recruitment is seeking an experienced Machine Setter / CNC Lathe Operator to join a precision engineering shop in Southend-on-Sea, Essex. You will set and operate CNC lathes and contribute to manufacturing high-precision components to tight tolerances.

Qualifications

Machine Setter / CNC Lathe Operator / High Precision Components

Location: Southend - on - Sea, Essex

Overview

Our client is a well-established and growing precision engineering company supplying high-quality machined components to a range of industries. Due to continued growth, they are seeking experienced Machine Setters, CNC Lathe Operators, and Skilled Precision Engineering Staff to join their shop floor production team.

Key Responsibilities

• Setting and operating CNC lathes and associated machinery.
• Producing precision engineered components to customer specifications and engineering drawings.
• Tool setting, offsets, and machine adjustments.
• Conducting first-off inspections and in-process quality checks.
• Reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
• Monitoring machine performance and identifying opportunities for process improvement.
• Ensuring production targets and quality standards are achieved.
• Maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
• Working in accordance with company health and safety procedures.

Skills & Experience Required

• Previous experience setting and operating CNC lathes within a precision engineering environment. ESSENTIAL
• Batch sizes range from
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Experience using measuring equipment including verniers, micrometers, and gauges. 1mm to 65 mm diameter.
• Strong understanding of tolerances and quality standards.
• Knowledge of Multi-Axis Turning Sliding & Fixed, Axis Miyano Models, Doosan Puma, Star Machines, Haas, Mazak or Siemens controls would be advantageous.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Desirable

• Experience with CNC programming or editing programs.
• Multi-axis machining experience.
• Apprenticeship or engineering qualification.
• Experience working within aerospace, automotive, medical, defence, or precision manufacturing sectors.
