Job summary

The University of Liverpool in Liverpool invites applications for a Technician in Physics (Detector Construction). Based in Liverpool, you will join the team manufacturing and testing components for the ITk detector upgrade project within the Department of Physics, working in cleanroom environments to ensure high-quality results.

You will assist in precision mechanical assembly of carbon fibre structures, follow engineering drawings and tolerances, and use metrology tools to verify geometry.

Qualifications

• Experience in cleanroom environments and handling delicate components.
• Ability to work from formal engineering drawings and tolerancing.
• Good communication skills and ability to instruct others.
• Reliably follow written instructions and enter data into databases.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the precision mechanical assembly of carbon fibre structures.
• Carry out the gluing of components to form modules.
• Use computer controlled metrology equipment for quality control.
• Monitor yields, machine problems and consumable usage; report accordingly.
• Attend technical meetings as the project progresses.
