Job summary

Masstemps Ltd is seeking an experienced CNC Setter/Operator to join a busy precision engineering shop near Walsall. You will set up, programme and run CNC turning and milling machines to manufacture precision components from engineering drawings.

You will also operate grinding equipment and perform first-off inspections, using micrometers and calipers to ensure tight tolerances. The role requires independent work and a commitment to high-quality output.

Qualifications

• Experience programming CNC turning and milling to job specs.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and tolerances.
• Experience using precision measuring tools.
• Ability to troubleshoot machining issues.
• Detail-oriented with high accuracy.
• Ability to work to production deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate and programme CNC turning and milling machines.
• Create and edit CNC programmes to job specs.
• Set tooling and adjust cutting parameters for accuracy.
• Operate grinding machines including cylindrical, centreless, surface and form.
• Read drawings, specs and tolerances.
• Select tools and work-holding devices.
• Perform first-off inspections and in-process checks.
• Measure with micrometers, verniers, calipers and gauges.
• Make offsets and adjustments for dimensional accuracy.
• Produce one-off parts and small to medium batches.
• Identify and resolve machining issues.
• Maintain machinery and report faults.
