In Kainos Defence, we work with clients across the Ministry of Defence (MOD), Armed Forces, and the Defence Industrial Base. We represent and deliver the breadth of Kainos services, including Data and AI, Cloud Platforms, bespoke software development, and more.

As a Technical Bid Writer, you will play a critical role in creating compelling, high-quality bid submissions that showcase Kainos Defence’s capabilities and value proposition. You will work closely with sales, marketing, and technical teams to develop tailored responses for complex opportunities within the Defence sector, ensuring submissions are clear, persuasive, and aligned with client requirements. This role requires exceptional writing skills, a strong grasp of technical concepts, and a collaborative approach to deliver bids that stand out in a competitive market.

Responsibilities Will Include

  • Creating high-quality, client-focused bid responses, ensuring they communicate Kainos Defence’s value proposition effectively.
  • Collaborating with technical experts and account teams to gather, analyse, and distil complex technical information into clear and engaging content.
  • Developing and maintaining a library of reusable content, case studies, and templates for future bids.
  • Supporting bid teams in shaping win strategies, themes, and value propositions for individual opportunities.
  • Ensuring all submissions adhere to Kainos Defence’s brand guidelines, tone of voice, and quality standards.
  • Conducting research to ensure bids are aligned with industry trends and client priorities.
  • Coordinating with bid managers to align bid timelines, managing contributions from stakeholders, and ensuring submissions are delivered on time and to the highest standard.
  • Contributing to the development of supporting marketing materials, including capability statements, brochures, and thought leadership pieces.

Minimum (Essential) Requirements

  • Strong experience in bid writing or technical writing, ideally within the Defence sector or similar industries.
  • Ability to synthesise complex technical information and present it in a clear, concise, and engaging manner.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, with a proven track record of producing high-quality written content.
  • Experience working with sales, technical, and marketing teams in a collaborative and deadline-driven environment.
  • Proficiency in using tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for bid development.
  • Hold a minimum of UK SC

Desirable

  • Familiarity with bid frameworks and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of the Defence sector, including an understanding of client needs and priorities within the MOD, Armed Forces, or Defence Industrial Base.
  • Experience in writing for digital services disciplines, such as software development, cloud platforms, or data and AI.
  • Hands-on experience in a technical or project delivery role that informs understanding of Kainos Defence’s services.
  • Marketing experience, including creating content for proposals, brochures, or capability statements.
