After completing the programme, you can register with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) as a qualified Pharmacy Technician. This role suits those interested in science, healthcare, and IT and who want to make a positive impact.

Qualifications

• Good communication, attention to detail, time management and the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines are essential.
• Four GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades 4–9 / A–C in English Language, Maths and Science are required.
• Candidates who already hold a Level 3 Pharmacy qualification are not eligible for apprenticeship funding.

Responsibilities

• Labelling, dispensing and accuracy checking a variety of prescriptions using our electronic prescribing system.
• Learning how different medicines work and what they are used to treat.
• Ordering, receiving and maintaining pharmaceutical stock.
• Providing excellent customer care and maintaining confidentiality while dealing with patients, staff and the public.
• Counselling patients on how to use their medicines safely.
• Working directly with patients on wards and in clinics to ensure safe medicines use both while in hospital and on discharge.
• Completing patient medication histories onwards.
