One Health Group is seeking a Pre-Assessment Nurse for its Elective Surgery Hub. You will undertake comprehensive pre-operative assessments for patients booked for hip, knee and spinal surgery, collaborating with the Clinical Lead and surgical and anaesthetic colleagues.

The role requires NMC registration and at least two years' acute surgical experience, with a planned start date of 1 April 2027. You will assist in patient optimisation, readiness for admission and surgery, and contribute to

Qualifications

• Current NMC registration as a Registered Nurse.
• At least two years' post-registration experience in an acute surgical environment.
• Experience in pre-operative assessment or a pre-assessment service.
• Experience caring for patients undergoing major orthopaedic and spinal surgery.
• Experience completing VTE, falls and infection risk assessments.

Responsabilités

• Undertake comprehensive pre-operative assessments for elective surgery patients.
• Review medical history, medications, allergies and previous anaesthetic history.
• Identify potential risks and elevate concerns appropriately.
• Support patient optimisation before surgery.
• Ensure investigations are completed (blood tests, ECGs, screening).
• Complete VTE, falls and infection risk assessments.
• Provide patients with information and education on their surgical pathway.
• Support patients undergoing hip, knee and spinal procedures.
• Complete pre-operative documentation accurately and efficiently.
• Promote patient safety and readiness for admission and surgery.
• Participate in clinical audit and quality improvement activities.
• Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team.
