Job summary

Wates Group in Sunderland is offering a Pre-Construction Management Trainee position that gives hands-on experience in early project stages. You will support bid preparation, coordinate input across Estimating, Commercial, Design and Operations, and learn how projects are planned, costed and bid for.

The programme includes mentoring, structured training, and opportunities to pursue industry qualifications and chartership, with a Level 4 apprenticeship for non-construction-degree holders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree by September 2027 with 2:2 or above.
• Degree subject relevant to construction or built environment.
• Full UK driving licence required.

Responsibilities

• Support the Pre-Construction team in preparing bids, proposals and tender submissions.
• Assist in identifying client requirements and developing bid strategies.
• Produce client-ready content for bid submissions and tailor responses.
• Coordinate input from multiple teams to ensure compliant, timely submissions.
• Maintain information systems, case studies and project documentation.
• Develop an understanding of the project lifecycle from opportunity to delivery.
