Job summary

Thomas Search Ltd, partnering with a MoD facilities contractor, is seeking a Design Manager based in Tidworth. You will oversee the full Pre-Construction process from feasibility to detailed design, reporting to the Programme Manager.

You will manage design development, balance technical guidance with program and commercial objectives, and build relationships with consultants and agencies such as Environment Agency and Building Control. CDM compliance is essential.

Qualifications

• Degree/HND/HNC in Building, Engineering or Architecture.
• PM/architecture/engineering qualification desirable.
• Progress toward professional membership will enhance profile.
• Proven design management experience across sectors and methods.
• Understanding of traditional and modern construction methods.
• Experience with AutoCAD and BIM is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Manage Pre-Construction from feasibility to detailed design.
• Provide technical guidance while meeting program and commercial objectives.
• Develop project scoping documents for Consultants and Contractors.
• Chair design coordination meetings and ensure Contract Programme adherence.
• Conduct design risk assessments under CDM regulations.
• Support tender reviews and liaise with Facilities Management and Lifecycle teams.
• Support Site Delivery Team with RFIs and technical queries.
