Job summary

NHS Scotland is seeking an experienced Band 8b Clinical/Forensic Psychologist for 0.72 wte, primarily based in the Learning Disabilities Psychological Therapies Service at Strathmartine Centre, Dundee, with travel across the Tayside area expected.

The post requires post-qualification clinical experience, the ability to lead complex assessments and formulations, and to supervise Doctoral Trainee Clinical Psychologists within a supportive multidisciplinary environment.

Tayside Psychological Therapies Service is looking to appoint to a Band 8b Clinical/Forensic Psychologist post for 0.72 wte for the Tayside Area which will currently be mainly based within Learning Disabilities Psychological Therapies Service at Strathmartine Centre, Dundee but travel across Tayside area is an expected aspect of the role. (Base currently under review and may be subject to change). The applicant should have relevant post qualification clinical experience who is committed to delivering high quality and effective psychological services for adults with a learning disability.

The post holder will provide psychological assessment, treatment and consultation to adults with learning disabilities, carers and families in the Tayside Region. The postholder will work within forensic, community, outpatient and day service settings for delivery of individual and group interventions. The post requires the ability to take a senior role in assessment and the formulation of highly complex cases within the context of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working. The postholder will have regular access to clinical supervision and peer support. The Learning Disability Service is a friendly and supportive work environment. The Learning Disability Psychology section interests include: Trauma, Parenting, Behaviour Family Therapy and Dementia.

The postholder will be expected to provide consultation and supervision to other staff members and multi-disciplinary colleagues. A key requirement is for provision of supervision to Doctoral Trainee Clinical Psychologist’s. The postholder will have opportunity to contribute to an established training agenda. The postholder will require to eligible for registration with the Health Professions Council and for Chartered Status with the British Psychological Society.
