Job summary

Locum Ready is seeking a Locum Practice Nurse to support a GP practice in Kidderminster. The role focuses on high-quality patient care through chronic disease reviews, routine treatment room procedures and nursing clinics in a structured primary care setting.

You will contribute to preventative health work and flexible session patterns, with long‑term bookings offered. Experience in primary care and good clinical reasoning are essential, with DBS clearance and IT system familiarity preferred.

Qualifications

• NMC-registered Nurse working in primary care.
• Confident in chronic disease management and treatment room activities.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with patients.
• Familiarity with GP IT systems (EMIS, SystmOne or Vision).
• DBS enhanced clearance is required or in place.

Responsibilities

• Conduct chronic disease reviews for patients with asthma, COPD, diabetes or hypertension.
• Perform wound care, dressings and treatment room duties.
• Carry out immunisations and cytology-related tasks if trained.
• Perform smear tests (cytology-trained nurses) if applicable.
• Complete NHS Health Checks and lifestyle assessments.
• Manage results, recalls and routine follow-up tasks.
• Document clearly in the clinical system.

Key Responsibilities

• Conducting chronic disease reviews for patients with asthma, COPD, diabetes or hypertension
• Performing wound care, dressings and treatment room duties
• Carrying out adult and children’s immunisations (if trained)
• Undertaking smear tests (cytology-trained nurses)
• Completing NHS Health Checks and lifestyle assessments
• Managing results, recalls and routine follow-up tasks
• Documenting clearly in the clinical system

Requirements

• NMC-registered Nurse with experience in primary care
• Up-to-date immunisation and cytology training desirable
