RecQuest are supporting a close-knit legal team in their search for a Practice Manager: Someone who can lead on finance, compliance, HR, and the day-to-day running of the office. This is a vital role at the heart of the business, suited to someone with strong organisational skills, previous experience in a legal setting, and the confidence to lead across multiple functions. What You’ll Be Responsible For: Finance: - Monitoring cashflow daily and reporting to Directors - Managing the credit control process and acting as the first point of contact for the firm's bank - Preparing monthly management reports and supporting the Compliance Officer for Finance and Administration (COFA) - Liaising with accountants on annual audits (Solicitors Accounts Rules) and accounts - Working with Quill (accounting software) on VAT returns and month-end processes - Providing cover for the Legal Cashier as needed Compliance & Procedures: - Supporting the Compliance Officer for Legal Practice (COLP) and advising Directors on regulatory requirements - Maintaining and developing compliance procedures and updating the Conveyancing Quality Scheme (CQS) manual - Managing client due diligence, new file openings, and file archiving - Acting as the firm’s primary contact for the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) - HR & People Management: - Coordinating recruitment, onboarding, and staff departures - Managing CPD (Continuing Professional Development) records and booking training courses - Ensuring staff access to relevant legal libraries and resources - Keeping accurate records of holiday and sick leave - Maintaining an organised approach to personnel processes and staff communications Marketing & Practice Development: - Leading on marketing initiatives and reporting on performance - Preparing and coordinating legal articles, adverts, and press releases - Overseeing the firm’s website, working with external developers to keep content up to date - Contributing to firm-wide development through performance data and reporting IT & Office Management: - Managing the relationship with the firm’s IT support provider (Fluid One) - Setting up new users on Redbrick, Quill, Land Registry and court portals - Handling contracts for phone systems, photocopiers, and office equipment - Coordinating all maintenance like PAT testing, alarms, air conditioning, etc. General Administration: - Managing professional insurances, practising certificate renewals, SRA accounts reports, diversity reporting, mortgage panel and CQS re-accreditation - Maintaining the office’s stationery and marketing materials - Keeping the Practice Manual and internal policies up to date - Supporting the Alresford office where needed, including retrieving stored documents - General housekeeping of the shared drive and ensuring efficient internal systems What’s On Offer: - Salary: £48,000 – £60,000 per annum - Holiday: 25 days annual leave + Bank Holidays + a bonus day off at Christmas - Parking: Free on-site parking provided - A pivotal role in a forward-thinking firm with plenty of autonomy and responsibility - A supportive team who genuinely value each other and the work they do This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a role where you’ll truly make an impact, supporting a successful firm with a friendly team, a steady flow of work, and an appetite for future growth.
