Job description

We are thrilled to present an exciting opportunity for a Practice Manager to lead our team at Mill House Veterinary Surgery & Hospital in Kings Lynn, Norfolk.

Your Next Role

As Practice Manager, you’ll oversee the day-to-day operations, ensuring high standards across all areas of the practice. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and inspiring our team of vets, nurses, and support staff.
  • Managing HR tasks such as recruitment, staff development, and rotas.
  • Overseeing compliance, health and safety, and practice maintenance.
  • Monitoring financial performance, including budgeting and cost control.
  • Driving growth through effective marketing and client engagement strategies.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll work closely with all departments to create a positive and productive environment for both staff and clients.

Your New Team

We are a friendly and supportive practice in Kings Lynn, Norfolk, within walking distance of the town centre. We're also just a short drive from the stunning North Norfolk coast, with excellent train links to Norwich, Cambridge, and London—all less than two hours away.

Our team includes specialist vets, supported by a fantastic first-opinion team. We’re backed by RVNs and SVNs, with certificate holders across emergency care, surgery, internal medicine, diagnostic imaging, and more.

We’re proud to hold "outstanding" status in six Practice Standard Scheme awards. Staff wellbeing is a priority, with initiatives like mental health first aiders, wellbeing champions, and our informal "tea and biscuits society." We also celebrate our team through awards nights and initiatives like VetLed's "Civility Saves Lives" program, fostering a culture of kindness, psychological safety, and a no-blame approach to continuous improvement.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for a motivated and proactive individual with:

  • Proven experience in management, ideally within a veterinary or healthcare setting.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills to engage and support the team.
  • A passion for driving excellence and implementing positive change.
  • The ability to manage financial processes, including budgets and P&Ls.
  • A creative approach to client engagement and business growth.

While experience in the veterinary industry is a plus, it’s not essential—we value leadership, organisational skills, and a collaborative spirit above all.

Working Hours

This full-time role includes 40 hours per week across 5 days, working 8:30am-5:30pm with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.

What We Offer You

You'll be part of a supportive and passionate team, working in a well-maintained practice. This role provides a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on both the practice and the team, contributing to our continued success and growth.

In addition to this you will receive a competitive salary up to £45,000 per annum and additional benefits such as:

Work Life Balance

  • Enhanced family-friendly policies, including maternity/ paternity/ adoption/ shared parental and surrogacy pay
