Job summary

Butler Rose in Central London is recruiting an experienced Bookkeeper to join its accounts team on a fixed-term maternity cover contract. You will manage bookkeeping and management accounts for your own varied portfolio, including foreign currency transactions, group inter-company activity and timely year-end support.

The role uses Sage, QuickBooks and Xero, offers office-based hours Monday to Friday, and provides exposure to larger international clients within a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• Previous accountancy practice experience - essential.
• Strong bookkeeping across multiple clients.
• Proven experience preparing management accounts.
• Practical experience of foreign currency transactions and reconciliations.
• Experience with group companies and inter-company transactions.
• Good working knowledge of Sage, QuickBooks and Xero.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills and confidence dealing directly with clients.
• A proactive, personable approach and willingness to support colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Managing bookkeeping for a varied portfolio of accountancy practice clients.
• Preparing accurate and timely management accounts.
• Processing and reconciling foreign currency transactions, including international activity.
• Handling group company and inter-company transactions and reconciliations.
• Maintaining accurate accounting records, journals and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Liaising directly with clients, obtaining information and resolving queries.
• Supporting year-end accounts preparation and wider accounts assignments.
• Using Sage, QuickBooks and Xero to maintain client records.
• Ensuring work is completed accurately and within agreed deadlines.
