Job summary

Butler Rose in Canvey Island is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to manage a portfolio of around 30 clients and provide high-quality bookkeeping support across multiple sectors. The role involves VAT returns, CIS when required, MTD compliance, and using QuickBooks, Xero, Sage and Excel.

This is an office-based position with a salary of £27,000–£35,000. You will build long-term client relationships, ensure accurate records, and work with a friendly team to deliver excellent service.

Qualifications

• Experience in an accountancy practice.

An established and well-respected accountancy practice is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join its friendly team in Canvey Island. You will manage a dedicated portfolio of around 30 clients across a wide range of industries, providing high-quality bookkeeping support. Role Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of approximately 30 bookkeeping clients.
• Process day-to-day bookkeeping for a variety of businesses across multiple sectors.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns accurately and on time.
• Complete CIS returns where required.
• Support clients with Making Tax Digital (MTD) compliance.
• Maintain accurate financial records using QuickBooks, Xero, Sage and Microsoft Excel.
• Liaise with clients to obtain information, answer queries and resolve bookkeeping issues.
• Work closely with partners to deliver an efficient service across their client portfolios.
• Handle a varied workload, supporting clients of different sizes with differing bookkeeping requirements.
• Ensure work is completed accurately and in line with deadlines.

Personal Requirements

• Previous bookkeeping experience within an accountancy practice.
• Good working knowledge of VAT and CIS.
• Experience with Making Tax Digital (MTD) requirements.
• Confident using QuickBooks, Xero, Sage and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong client relationships.
