Job summary

Willow Recruit Ltd. is partnering with a Harrogate practice to recruit an experienced Accountant to own a portfolio of clients, prepare accounts and tax returns, and build lasting relationships. You will work within a supportive firm that values professional growth and client service excellence.

The successful candidate will have practice experience, qualifications (AAT or ACCA/ACA part), and proficiency with Sage, Xero or QuickBooks. Enjoy a collaborative team and opportunities for progression.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in an accountancy practice environment.
• Strong accounts preparation and tax compliance knowledge.
• Proficiency with Sage, Xero or QuickBooks software.
• Excellent communication and client relationship skills.

Responsibilities

• Managing a varied portfolio of clients and building long-term professional relationships
• Preparing management accounts and year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
• Preparing personal, partnership and corporation tax returns
• Completing VAT returns and company secretarial duties
• Handling bookkeeping, bank reconciliations and general ledger activities
• Preparing and supporting payroll and self-assessment tax returns
• Supporting with year-end processes, audits and dealing with external stakeholders
• Identifying opportunities to improve client processes and recommending additional services where appropriate
• Working closely with Managers and Directors on technical accounting and taxation matters
• Ensuring all compliance deadlines are met and client records are maintained accurately
