Job summary

Alpine Formula One Team is seeking a Powertrain Design Student Placement at our Enstone facility. You will work with the powertrain design team on mechanical components, CAD modelling, and design validation to support race performance.

You'll collaborate with experienced engineers, contribute to technical documentation, and help ensure compliance with Formula One regulations. Duration is 1 year starting July 2027, based in Enstone with onsite assessment in September.

Qualifications

• Currently studying a degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Aerospace, or Motorsport Engineering and penultimate year.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles.
• Experience with CAD software.
• Familiarity with FEA tools and design for manufacturing.
• Passion for motorsport and proactive, detail-oriented mindset.
• Right to work in the UK; no sponsorship available.
• Available to attend onsite assessment centre in September.

About Us

We are a high-performance Formula One Team driven by innovation, precision, and passion. Our Powertrain group is responsible for the design and development of critical systems including heat rejection, hydraulics, and fuel, as well as the seamless integration of the engine and hybrid systems. As a Powertrain Design Student Placement, you’ll be part of a team that transforms cutting-edge concepts into race-ready solutions that directly impact on-track performance.

The Role

During the placement, you’ll support the design and development of mechanical components across the powertrain systems, including heat rejection, hydraulics, and fuel. Working alongside experienced design engineers, you’ll contribute to CAD modelling, design validation, and technical documentation, helping ensure performance, reliability, and compliance with the Formula One regulations.

Who We’re Looking For

• Currently studying a degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Aerospace, or Motorsport Engineering and looking for an industry placement as your penultimate year of university
• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and engineering fundamentals
• Experience with CAD software
• Familiarity with FEA tools and design for manufacturing principles
• Passion for motorsport and a proactive, detail-oriented mindset
• You must have the right to work in the UK, as we cannot provide sponsorship for this role
• Be available to attend onsite for an assessment centre in September
