Job summary

Balfour Beatty plc in Peterhead is seeking a Site Engineer to join the Power Transmission & Distribution team. The role starts with a 13-week upskilling programme designed to rapidly develop leadership, planning, and technical skills for supervising complex site operations.

You’ll work with project teams from planning to commissioning, ensuring quality, safety and on-time delivery while gaining hands-on experience across digital tools and reporting.

Qualifications

• Minimum of HNC Electrical and full valid UK driving licence required.
• Experience in construction engineering environment desired.
• Experience implementing safe systems of work and managing risk and change.
• Good understanding of project delivery, technical information and site-based coordination.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to build relationships at all levels.
• Proactive, solutions-focused approach and ability to work under pressure.
• Good interpersonal skills and collaborative mindset; awareness of commercial considerations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365.
• Commitment to diversity, inclusion and continuous development.
• Formal qualification in construction or engineering, or equivalent industry experience.
• CSCS and SSSTS (or working towards them).

Responsibilities

• Play a key role in successful delivery of projects from planning through to commissioning, handover and close out.
• Interpret technical solutions and drawings, brief delivery teams clearly, and ensure work is delivered safely, efficiently and right first time.
• Monitor progress, maintain accurate project records, support reporting and reviews, and coordinate with internal teams, subcontractors and stakeholders.
