Job summary

X4 Life Sciences is seeking a Power Systems Engineer to join our Birmingham-based team. You will design electrical infrastructure from 230V/400V up to 11kV, develop substations and HV networks, and perform load flow, fault-level, and protection studies within a multidisciplinary engineering environment.

The role offers involvement across project delivery, client engagement, site work, and technical reporting. A relevant degree and experience with power systems software are required.

Qualifications

• Degree in Power Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience in an engineering consultancy or similar environment.
• Experience with power systems software: ETAP, IPSA+, ERACS, DIgSILENT PowerFactory.
• Experience with AutoCAD; Revit is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical infrastructure from 230V/400V through to 11kV.
• Design distribution substations and 11kV networks.
• Conduct load flow and fault-level studies.
• Perform protection and grading studies.
• Carry out harmonic analysis and voltage stability assessments.
• Develop HV cable routes and network designs.
• Support embedded generation projects including solar PV and wind.
• Prepare G99 applications and liaise with DNOs.
