Our Power Systems team focuses on high-voltage design, power system studies, and technical advisory services, delivering solutions for challenging projects across the UK and internationally.

The Role

As a Power Systems Engineer, you will collaborate with substation design engineers on plant and grid substation projects from concept to delivery, focusing on projects from 33kV to 400kV. You will lead EMT studies, mentor junior engineers, and ensure designs meet regulatory standards and project objectives.

Responsibilities

• Modelling and analysis including load flow, short circuit, protection coordination, dynamic and EMT studies.
• Conduct compliance studies such as voltage fluctuation, harmonic assessments, reactive power, and grid code compliance.
• Design and implement solutions like underground cable sizing, protection philosophy, earthing, and ensure standards compliance.
• Produce technical reports, collaborate across disciplines, and maintain client relationships.
• Support project delivery, provide technical ownership of EMT studies, and mentor junior staff.

Essential Skills

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
• Chartered Engineer or working towards it
• Experience with UK DNO/TSO standards and EMT analysis software (PSCAD, ATP-EMTP, EMTP-RV)

Desirable Skills

• Proficiency in Power System analysis software (e.g., DIgSILENT PowerFactory)
• Experience with grid compliance studies, inverter modeling, scripting languages, and DNO projects
