Job summary

Carrington West is seeking an experienced Site Engineer for a major substation civil works project in South Wales. You will deliver setting out, quality assurance, dimensional control and coordination on site, ensuring works align with the programme and safety standards.

Ideal candidates will have a strong civil engineering background with hands-on setting out using total stations and surveying tools, plus experience with earthworks, concrete and drainage on infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

• Requirements: Minimum 3 years' experience as a Site Engineer in civil engineering or major infrastructure projects (on-site).
• Relevant Civil Engineering qualification (HND, BEng, MEng, Foundation Degree or BTEC).
• Strong setting out experience with total stations, robotic instruments and levels.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out setting out and dimensional control for permanent and temporary works using total stations, robotic instruments and surveying equipment
• Maintaining survey control points and ensuring accurate setting out records
• Interpreting drawings, specifications, and technical information to ensure works are delivered correctly
• Coordinating with subcontractors and site operatives
• Monitoring progress against the construction programme and providing updates to site management
• Undertaking ground level surveys, earthworks measurements and quantity take-offs
• Supporting inspections of civil works and QA documentation
• Maintaining site diaries, as-built drawings and construction records
• Supporting permits to dig and site safety inspections
