Job summary

Real in Glasgow is seeking a Project Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial delivery of high‑voltage electrical projects, including substations, switchgear, and cable works. You will work with project delivery teams to ensure cost control and strong commercial performance from award through final account.

You will manage BOQs, budgets, interim valuations, variations, and final accounts, while identifying risks and maintaining robust commercial records.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or related field.
• Experience on electrical infrastructure, HV, substations or renewables projects.
• Experience with contract administration, commercial management, and cost control.
• Experience managing subcontractor accounts, valuations, and final accounts.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management.
• Good organisational and record-keeping abilities.
• Ability to work independently and prioritise workload.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and manage BOQs, budgets, cost reports, forecasts and profit plans.
• Monitor project costs and provide commercial reporting to Project Managers and senior stakeholders.
• Lead interim commercial meetings with clients and internal project teams.
• Manage subcontractor accounts, valuations, payment certificates, and final accounts.
• Ensure payments are processed in accordance with subcontract agreements and retention provisions.
• Administer contractual obligations and support successful commercial delivery.
• Prepare and submit monthly applications for payment, including variations and claims.
• Identify and manage labour and material cost escalations; escalate risks.
• Negotiate effectively with clients, subcontractors, and stakeholders to achieve positive commercial outcomes.
• Maintain accurate commercial records and supporting documentation for cost control, reporting, and claims.
