Job summary

SSE is looking for a Power Plant Operator at Peterhead Power Station to help keep the plant running safely and meet production needs. Reporting to the Shift Group Leader, you will perform routine checks, operate plant locally and monitor unit condition, reporting faults promptly.

You will work under the Safe System of Work, apply plant isolations, follow Generation System Safety Rules and contribute to a collaborative, safety-first team.

Qualifications

• Experience in the operation and monitoring of power generation equipment or heavy equipment in a process environment.
• Ability to troubleshoot and accurately report equipment defects.
• NVQ or HNC in a technical discipline.
• Previously worked under a formal Safe System of Work.
• Team player mentality and a can-do attitude.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out routine checks and pre-start checks following outages and maintenance, ensuring all safety and environmental requirements are met.
• Operating plant locally in line with operational instructions, keeping track of changes in plant status and responding effectively.
• Monitoring the condition of unit and auxiliary plant, identifying faults and accurately reporting defects.
• Lead by example in following the safe system of work and Generation System Safety Rules.
• Apply plant isolations in line with procedures for depressurising, draining, pressurising, priming, warming and setting plant for service.
