Job summary

Shell Energy Europe & Environmental Products is seeking a Data Scientist to join the Market Analysis team to develop and productionise time series forecasting and optimisation models for the power market. You will work closely with traders and domain experts to translate market fundamentals into robust mathematical models and scalable cloud-based deployments.

The role involves building data ingestion pipelines, evaluating forecasts, and deploying models in Azure/AWS environments to support daily

Qualifications

• Graduate with analytical/science background; PhD preferred.
• End-to-end data experience: querying, aggregation, analysis, visualization.
• Proficiency in Python data science stack (Pandas/NumPy/Scikit-learn) and SQL.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, process, clean and visualize power, gas and weather data to enable analysis.
• Develop and evaluate forecasts for demand, wind, solar, prices.
• Validate forecasts statistically and improve models.
• Deploy production-ready models for trading decisions.
• Share framework with team to boost overall performance.
• Support scalable computational environment and data pipelines.
• Develop in-house optimisation models and dispatch models.
• Propose new modelling ideas to improve desk P&L.
• Lead model/infrastructure projects with IT and modelling teams.
