Job summary

Nexperia Manchester is expanding its Applications team with a Power Electronics Application Engineer. You will lead development and deployment of power protection, distribution and conversion solutions across AI infrastructure, data centres and automotive sectors.

Ideal candidates have strong power electronics experience, are technically authoritative with customers, and comfortable traveling globally to key tech hubs. Exciting growth and global reach await.

Qualifications

  • Significant power electronics experience with customer-facing and cross-functional work.
  • Willingness to travel globally, occasional short-notice trips.

Responsibilities

  • Design, debug and validate MOSFET-based circuits for high-current systems.
  • Create reference designs, demos and design-in tools for 48V distribution.
  • Translate customer needs into product specs and roadmap inputs.
  • Interface with customers, sales, field engineers and internal teams.
  • Represent the business in meetings, visits and industry activities.

Job description

At Nexperia Manchester, we are expanding our Applications team with the addition of a Power Electronics Application Engineer. Our Power MOSFET groups supply high-quality devices to the automotive, industrial, computing, and consumer sectors, providing advanced solutions for the electrification of the automotive industry and the high-density power requirements of AI and data centre infrastructure.

What you will do

As a Power Electronics Application Engineer, you will provide technical leadership for the development and deployment of reliable power protection, power distribution and conversion/control solutions across strategic growth markets. AI infrastructure and telecom will be key focus areas, alongside robotics, solar and energy storage, with a focus on low voltage power MOSFETs.

This role is well suited to candidates with experience in industrial or other high-reliability power electronics applications, such as automotive, who want to apply their expertise to high growth markets such as AI infrastructure and next generation data centre power.

  • Designing, debugging and validating MOSFET-based circuits for high current systems
  • Creating technical literature, demo boards, reference designs, design-in tools, simulations and evaluation testbenches for advanced power distribution architectures, such as 48V power distribution systems
  • Working closely with the field and directly with customers, translating their requirements, application trends and system level challenges into new product specifications and roadmap inputs
  • Acting as a capable technical interface for strategic customers, global sales teams, field application engineers and internal stakeholders
  • Representing the business as a subject matter expert in customer meetings, customer visits, internal technical discussions, training sessions and industry facing activities
What you will need
Essential
  • A Degree or equivalent in Electronics Engineering, Power Electronics, Physics or a relevant discipline
  • Significant experience in power electronics, with the ability to operate as a technical authority in customer facing and cross functional environments
  • The legal right and willingness to travel globally, occasionally on short notice to key technology hubs (e.g. USA/Asia) without significant visa processing delays
  • Interest in AI infrastructure and Data Centre power systems
Experience of the following would be beneficial
  • AI infrastructure, data centre, server power, telecoms, industrial, automotive or other high-reliability power systems
  • Experience working with common power electronics applications and 48V systems
  • Expertise in circuit simulation (e.g. SIMPLIS, LTspice, PSpice etc) and PCB design.
  • High current MOSFET operation, MOSFET SOA, transient analysis knowledge and thermal design
  • Proven expertise in circuit simulation (e.g. LTspice, PSpice, SIMPLIS or equivalent) and PCB design
